Chinese Astrology: Zodiac, BaZi & Five Elements topic guide

What Chinese astrology can—and cannot—tell you

Chinese astrology is a family of symbolic timing systems rather than one personality quiz. The Chinese zodiac uses a twelve-animal cycle. BaZi, also called Four Pillars, adds year, month, day and hour information together with the Five Elements. Aura Sage uses these systems as structured prompts for self-observation, not as proof of personality or a guaranteed forecast.

Short answer: begin with an exact calendar calculation, learn which layer you are reading, then test the interpretation against real experience.

Why birth dates near Lunar New Year are often mislabeled

A zodiac year does not automatically begin on January 1. Lunar New Year usually falls between late January and February, so people born near that boundary may belong to the previous traditional year. Some BaZi schools use the solar term Start of Spring for specific calculations. A trustworthy result therefore states which boundary it uses instead of hiding the method.

Zodiac sign, year element and Day Master are different

Your animal is the Earthly Branch of a traditional year. The year element comes from its Heavenly Stem. The Day Master comes from the day stem in a complete Four Pillars chart. Websites often combine these labels into one generic identity; Aura Sage keeps them separate so the result is easier to understand and verify.

Compatibility is a conversation prompt, not a verdict

Compatibility content is most useful when it helps two people discuss pace, conflict, reassurance, autonomy and repair. One animal pairing cannot decide whether a relationship is safe, reciprocal or sustainable. Important decisions still belong with lived behaviour, direct communication and qualified support when needed.

How to use an interpretation responsibly

  1. Check the date and boundary rule.
  2. Identify whether the claim refers to a year animal, year element or full chart.
  3. Keep statements specific enough to disagree with.
  4. Choose one real-world action to test.
  5. Never use a symbolic result as medical, financial or legal advice.
