In traditional zodiac language, the Dragon is associated with vision, presence and expansive ambition. Use those ideas as questions to test against experience—not as a verdict about personality.

The traditional Dragon lens
A useful strength is helping people see a possibility larger than the present limitation. A possible growth edge is asking the vision to carry details that still need patient work. Neither statement is universal; family, culture, timing and the other three pillars matter.
Five kinds of Dragon
The animal repeats every twelve years, but the same animal-element pairing returns only every sixty years. The element changes how the broad animal symbolism is traditionally described.
Wood Dragon
Traditionally, Wood adds growth, experimentation and a stronger pull toward development.
Fire Dragon
Traditionally, Fire adds visibility, warmth and a more expressive social rhythm.
Earth Dragon
Traditionally, Earth adds practicality, caretaking and a preference for stable foundations.
Metal Dragon
Traditionally, Metal adds structure, discernment and sharper standards.
Water Dragon
Traditionally, Water adds reflection, flexibility and a more intuitive response to change.
Compatibility without certainty
Dragon, Rat and Monkey form one traditional three-sign harmony group. Dog sits opposite Dragon in the twelve-branch cycle and is often described as a higher-contrast pairing. These relationships do not prove attraction, safety or long-term fit. Communication, behaviour and a complete chart provide more useful evidence.
What the birth-year sign leaves out
Your animal is the Earthly Branch of the Year Pillar. A full BaZi chart also uses the month, day and hour pillars, their Heavenly Stems, hidden stems, seasonal strength and relationships. That is why two people born in the same Dragon year can have very different patterns.
